The electronic component marketplace has never adopted an industry standard that has gained widespread industry acceptance. For example, Texas Instruments, a leading manufacturer of electronic components, is commonly shortened as TexasInst, TXN, TI, T.I., Texas, or Tex.

Today's componenet databases and search engines, however, all have maximum field-length limitations. As a result, using the full manufacturer's name is often impossible.

Independent and Authorized distributors who advertise components often commonly use different short forms of the component manufacturer's name.

In hope to help establish an industry standard for component manufacturer names and short names, PCC is publishing the full and short form abbreviations that it uses herein.
